Modulum Concept Roof Design
This video presentation was created using Rhino-Grasshopper for parametric modelling of the structure, and Twinmotion for unreal rendering. It is showing our concept design of the roof which can be transformed/folded from the screen of the pod structure. Modulum Cut and Fill Tool
This tool allows user to cut and fill and land automatically using a parametric workflow. This is achieved by (1) reading the site contour, (2) creating a NURB surface/site, (3) specifying the shape and location of the final surface, and (4) cut/fill the land with visualized information.
Modulum Generative Assembler
A 3D grid system can be quickly and easily set-up using this tool, where grid spacing is fully parametric controlled. This enables uniform and non-uniform 3D grid systems. This tool also allow geometric elements to be assembled at selected grid point/prints. For example, pre-defined structural elements can be efficiently positioned to desired grid locations.
Modulum Digital Builder
Parametric digital tool for generating detail 3D Modulum pod structures. Components are systemically created within a target design volume. Pod information and geometry can be automatically exported to Excel and CAD program, respectively; which allows rapid update in shop drawings.
Modulum Digital Plumber
This tool allows us to create the plumbing system below the finish floor inside a "Modulum Pod Structure". All pipes are created with a design slope and with the consideration of pipe size, where the pipe diameter can only be increased from inlets to the outlet. To prevent minimal interactions with the structure, optimal paths (shortest distance) can be designed by providing user-defined path constraints.
Modulum Digital Cladding
This tool can generate different appearance of the cladding design from a given site boundary (e.g. architectural drawings). Many design options are included, such as local uniform, global uniform, hybrid local/global uniform cladding. Cladding components are folded from flat sheets into box-like configurations. Finally, sheets and patterns are nested to a continuous roll-form sheet for waste minimization in the digital fabrication process.
Modulum Flashing Tool
Flashing are folded rectangular sheets. This tool allows non-technical users to specify the girth, length, and quantity of those rectangles in a Excel file and produce a cutting instruction in the from of pure-text and graphical-representation. This tool can generate results with the consideration of manufacturing methods, where it can produce optimal guillotine cuts and nested non-guillotine cuts.
Modulum Cee Profile Selection
Unlike typical structural analysis, where the geometry is first determined and to be further analysed; this tool selects the adequate structural component (e.g. Cee profile joists) for a given boundary with the consideration of engineering values. As the result, the entire site can be imparted with computer-defined components. This prevents major changes of a design transferred from architects to engineers. This tool can also generate intimidate cutting lists, which enables digital fabrications.
Modulum 2D Plumbing Path
This tool automatically generates a 2D plumbing system from user-defined locations within a structure (e.g. joists). The path is optimal, it represents the shortest distance from inlets to the outlet by using right angle turns only. This tool also considers pipe diameters, where pipe the size can only be increased from inlets to the outlet. Finally, the tool detects all clashes between the plumbing system and the given structure.
